It’s such an absurd notion that a giant octopus would arrive on a roof for no reason (and become so useful), but that’s the joy of this book, coupled with Steven Lenton’s colourful, characterful illustration – we really feel like we know Mrs Antrobus with her big hair curlers and slippers, and her diverse and friendly community – and the octopus itself, of course. It’s a quirky, pretty bonkers idea that an octopus would land on anybody’s roof but if one were to I would quite like this one as it is fluorescent orange!

Echt een aanrader als je zin hebt in een absurd grappig boek met natuurlijk ook een goede boodschap over niet beoordelen van een vreemdeling (in dit geval een octopus). Ik moest heerlijk lachen om het verhaal, hoe het begon met mm, wat moeten we met een octopus ging naar een verhaal waar hij helemaal deel is van de familie en ook de mensen van het dorp niet zonder hem konden. Ik vond het zo zoet om te zien hoe iedereen vrienden was met de octopus en ik genoot ook om te zien wat de octopus zoals deed op de dag.
