Their signature frankincense note, most notably and potently used in Interlude Man, the "blue beast," is powerful, challenging and widely loved by fragrance enthusiasts. As one can see from above there are a huge number of ingredients and thus I would say the fragrance would be very subjective to ones skin chemistry so please do take my humble opinion like a pinch of salt.

I'm posting a new review of Beloved as I think the first one I wrote was unfairly harsh and dismissive. After a short time the orange starts to retreat and clears the way for a very sweet scent, which is not cheap, but very noble and dignified. It is slightly too balsamic for my personal taste, but Beloved paired with a grey suit on a spring day. A breathtakingly beautiful Floral Spice Oriental from the never disappointing Amouage, Beloved is a spellbinding mix of florals, resins and spices that has to be worn to be believed.

Beloved Man is a masterpiece and admittedly my 13th fragrance from this house minus a few that I didn't care for. Now that the scent is readily available from discounters, though, that economic reasoning falls away.Although pretty much like every other Amouage, it's uniqueness and the subtle craft with which it's made is surely going to get you noticed. I don't get as much saffron as others seem to, and I'd place patchouli, musk, and gaiac much higher in the list than they currently are.

In Europe, I found Beloved Man at Essenza Nobile for €320, at Premiere Avenue and First in Fragrance for €325, at the Netherland’s ParfuMaria for €330, at Italy’s Al Sacro Cuore for €335, and at Jovoy Paris for €340. This is a very clean, citrus opening, spicy resins, fresh, woods scent done with maximum quality oils. Already in December I got myself a bottling of the fragrance and when I smelled myself blind through my collection, he always belonged to the best, the best.Nothing can justify those horrendous costs for a single bottle (well, if it was Amouage + a small parcel on the Moon, why not? Amusingly enough, a commentator on Fragrantica has a preemptive response to my criticisms, presumably because he has heard numerous other people saying the same thing. This is slightly sweet, with the orange (goes to the heart note) -floral, a very nice long-lasting jasmine and spicy with the saffron (you notice immediately but very discreetly held) and the cedar wood slightly refined, a very min. Nowadays, “elemi” apparently refers to the harvested secretions from the Canarium Commune tree in the Phillipines, and its smell can best be summed up as: lemony, clean freshness that is also peppered and smoky. What there is, however, is a nondescript, nebulous woodiness that darts in and out of the creamy lemon mousse in the top notes.
