About this deal

The only slight criticism I have is that I feel the book ended a little too quick, ( maybe I just didn't want it to end ) it went from a great chapter about an eye opening event to then reading how Ben decided to change his way of life in the last chapter and it was all over so quickly.

When an opprotunity landed itself at his feet, with desperation, he jumped on it, but at that time I don’t think he knew what the opportunity entailed. At the beginning I empathised with him, but scene after scene of graphic sex (which in my view makes the book pornography) soon become tedious and uninteresting. These adverts enable local businesses to get in front of their target audience – the local community. But this account of his rags to riches and back to rags trajectory is just too sensationalist to convince.Going from a low-paid job looking after boys that really needed his attention, with his spare time devoted to massage.

All the same, even if this is a fictionalised version of some underlying truth, I couldn't stop reading this book. Details about his encounters are covered in his book 'Gigolo: Inside The Secret World of the Super Rich', which is up for a People's Book Prize. Thurlow is also the author of the acclaimed Sex, Surrealism, Dali and Me; the novel Cocaine Confidence and Making Short Films (Bloomsbury 2014) - 'The definitive must have for any filmmaker contemplating making and marketing a short film,' Elliot Grove, head of the Raindance Film Festival. The believable storyline and well developed and relatable characters leave nothing to the imagination, as the authors graphic descriptions of the daily shenanigans take you deep into this world of how the other half live.A reader can see that he was being used, even if he did get paid well for services provided, to them he was disposable, a replacement was highly likely at any moment for his bunch of fake friends. I received this book from Net Galley and Thistle Publishing for an honest review and no compensation otherwise.

Well written from rise and fall, being gigolo is being at mercy of your clients ,you turn on them and they will dissappear, you don't rub them well and they will dissappear, being gigolo is demanding but I think it's a way to get innocence out of your system ! Through my eyes, his wife must have known Ben was up to no-good, but I doubted she ever thought he was a gigolo based on the amount of sex they seemed to have. com claim their were fans around them wearing Wolves coats, in which case that’s appalling stewarding! As his fortune rises, and he provides more for his family, even his sweet, unassuming wife begins to change and see a future for herself. To some, what the character did was wrong, but, for some, he made us understand why he made them decisions. This book is just as much of a roller-coaster ride of excitement and anticipation for the reader, as the real life events it describes were for Ben, a working class boy drawn into the bizarre and uninhibited world of super-rich women. So our protagonist finds himself propelled in a world where houses don’t have postcodes, where your services are rewarded with the agreed upon fee but you might happen to get a brand new car. That’s lead to a wildfire in the home end to a point a lot of people don’t actually know what they’re fighting for. The author was honest in how he felt about what he was doing to make money and in how it impacted his marriage.

Ben’s good looks and polite albeit innocent manners name the women hire him for his services but healing through the massages they receive isn’t the only thing these rich and bored upper crust women want from Ben. You root for Ben from the very beginning: he is a good man, hard working and a loving father to his three kids for whom he wants to do better, give them more opportunities in life than he’s had. Since his early 20s, Mr Perkins has been working as a gigolo - a role that sees him sleep with women for money.Again another stark contrast with the loving but plain sex life Ben shares with his inexperienced wife. Having used a small inheritance to train as a masseur, he brings in a little extra income from the few clients he has managed to net.
