About this deal

But when the two arrive home, the Pig Wizard is nowhere to be found-all that’s left is the Jar of Endless Flame and a mysterious note. Ebooks fulfilled through Glose cannot be printed, downloaded as PDF, or read in other digital readers (like Kindle or Nook). Bea is someone I relate to because of her constant worrying and her love of books, but it got annoying. While in History of Horrible Humans class, Zelli learns of the great human adventurer, Allidora Steelstrike, who oddly resembles her.

Meanwhile, in darkness, more creatures are stirring, creatures who are after what Bea has and who will follow her anywhere to get it. The backdrop of the forest settings and particular nature scenes even for instance, Bea’s grandfather’s house + the more quieter stops during the quest evoke a cozy vibe for sure, however it wasn’t exactly the balance I look for when it comes to my cozy fantasy though I would still HIGHLY recommend this one. All that changes one day when, while walking through the woods, Bea meets Cad, a member of the Galdurians, an ancient race thought to be long-extinct. Its not something that vanishes after its introduced, rather its an element explored until the very end. I don't think there's anything bad with trying to read this book, but it wasn't for me, so I don't think I'd recommend it.The Arsai’s vision paints a dire picture for their planet, as the bird Kest Ke Belenus—now awoken from a restless slumber—threatens to destroy all the Lights of Irpa. Then he populates this glowing world with amazing elements straight out of fantasies like the Last Airbender, Star Wars or Indiana Jones. The art and colouring of this book was my entire aesthetic each panel had so much detail the author must have put his whole heart into this story.

Kirkus Reviews (starred review) Probert's debut graphic novel is both inventive and familiar, with unique characters in a fresh fantasy world embarking on a classic quest. Fearing for the Pig Wizard’s safety, Bea and Cad set out across Irpa to find him, while danger fights its way out of the shadows and into the light. Love these 2 unlikely heroes and gobbled up this first installment in this series in 1 single sitting. Kazu Kibuishi, bestselling author of Amulet Gorgeous artwork and a lovable heroine make Lightfall the series I wish I'd had as a kid. New York Times bestselling author Faith Erin Hicks says of Lightfall: “Gorgeous artwork and a lovable heroine make Lightfall the series I wish I’d had as a kid.

Based on the true experiences of Japanese Canadians and the Vancouver Asahi team, this graphic novel is a glimpse of how their lives were affected by WWII. Before bringing in the construction crew, the Heffleys attempt to do minor maintenance and repairs themselves—during which Greg fails at the work in various slapstick scenes. The illustrations are all in a sepia tone, giving it an antique look and conveying the emotions and struggles. There’s also some sort of evil-looking creatures that are awakened elsewhere in the world, and are on the hunt for something. The artwork is absolutely incredible - so cute and alive and dancing with textures and layers of light. I like the book–it’s a light read, but it has enough complexity within the story to keep you interested. After a battle that nearly cost them their lives, Bea and Cad awaken in the hidden settlement of the Arsai, mysterious creatures who can glimpse into the future. S. The Canadian government begins to ban Japanese people from certain areas, moving them to “dormitories” and setting a curfew.

The story also tackles anxiety through Bea’s POV, I appreciated seeing that in a visual form where its not always explored. I really appreciated the character development, the way Probert drew anxiety and how that was represented throughout the work, and how Bea gains strength and confidence in her friendship with Cad. A chance meeting between Bea, a fiercely loyal human girl, and Cadwallader, a lost Galdurian, ignites a friendship that could change them—and their world—forever. Because the plot unfolds from one point to the next, the worldbuilding feels like it definitely could have more development time, alongside with the interesting lore and grander plot.I took particular joy in noticing Bea's cat, who accompanies her on her journey, being delightfully catlike in the background of many panels.
