About this deal

In 1999, it was reported that a feature film was in development and that director Jevon O'Neill's production company, Erinfilm, had purchased the film rights to Mr Benn from David McKee. recto only, entitled 'Speech at the Bar' addressed to Mr Speaker by Anthony Wedgwood Benn in which he firstly says that 'he makes no apology for wishing to remain a Member of Parliament', secondly he expresses his thanks for 'the unfailing support of those who sent me to this place to represent them', and thirdly he states, 'Whatever Parliament may ultimately decide about it I am asking that the Stansgate peerage which was created for a special purpose, having now served that purpose, should be allowed to lapse completely and for all time Ð preserving no privileges for the future. In this story, a red suit of armour catches Mr Benn's eye, and when he tries it on he finds himself transported to a land full of castles, dungeons and dragons! The people were fussing over the broken bridge with individuals suggesting solutions - but none would work. The first thing to say about these handsome commemorative editions from the Anderson Press is that they ooze proper quality, from the thick card covers to the rich glossy pages.

It is a much larger book than I expected, with huge pictures which look exactly the same as the TV series, only with some words too.

For those of you not already wrapping yourselves in the comforting blanket of nostalgia, I suppose an introduction is warranted. For an enjoyable look at different jobs in action, check out the Whoops-A-Daisy World books including Inspector Croc Investigates and Chief Rhino To The Rescue. David McKee (1935 - 2022) was the creator of well-known characters including King Rollo, Mr Benn and Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, which is now published in more than 60 languages and has its own successful global merchandise programme.

His books are published in many languages throughout the world, and many of them have been adapted for television.Edge of upper wrapper very slightly marked, covers of dinner menu rather grubby, otherwise very good. Each of the adventures themselves is sufficiently different from the others to make it enjoyable to read one after another - parents won't get bored at all. The Baron cheats again by having a man on a horse tow his balloon, but the animal becomes frightened and runs in the wrong direction.
