About this deal

metres, so you'll be able to use it happily in the bath, or beside the shallow end of the swimming pool, and not worry about dropping it.

I like to use the controls of Asphalt 8 to check for responsiveness, and the S7 is as smooth as butter—as you'd expect. The screen is fantastic, the phone is very fast, the battery lasts almost two days, it’s waterproof, has a microSD card slot, a brilliant camera and wireless charging – there’s a lot to love. m2 blacks and a super-high contrast ratio makes it lovely to look at, regardless of whether you’re watching a video or scrolling through web pages. To have a smartphone this thin and elegant, it needs to be as strong as possible, and the bracket of the Galaxy S7 protects the components from shocks and other impacts. There’s a 12MP camera on the Samsung Galaxy S7, which is a drop in megapixels from the 16MP snapper on the Galaxy S6, but on the other hand the pixels are bigger, allowing more light in and therefore allowing you to take better low light photos.I think the industry is just taking a breath before it goes crazy with virtual and augmented reality, which we've started to see with Samsung's Gear VR. Held side by side with the Galaxy S6 I could see the Galaxy S7 screen had whiter whites, and colors appeared to be a little more natural compared to the slight over-saturation on the S6. inch size still looks absolutely pin-sharp, and it's very hard to see any artefacts lying around on the screen. m2, it’s not as bright as most LCD-based smartphones, but switch to Auto brightness and shine a torch on its adaptive light sensor and the brightness will shoot up to around 470cd/m2. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are the last two phones in the Samsung Galaxy S series to have a physical home button with a front-sided fingerprint sensor embedded in the button.

Still photos can be captured during 1440p (30 fps) and 2160p (30 fps) video recording, while the predecessor could only do so at up to 1080p. inches), making it the same width as the HTC One M9, and narrower than any other high-end Android phone I can think of. The Edge has Samsung’s new always-on screen, which displays the time, a calendar of a picture on the screen when it isn’t actively being used. One likable customization is the always-on screen, which floats the time, date, battery status, and basic notification information on the screen at all times; you can swap it out for a calendar or one of a few preset images. There is an additional setting that allows adjusting the brightness of the built-in LED lamp when used as a torch between five brightness levels.making it very fast, but also able to produce stunning close-up images with lovely bokeh effects blurring out the background with pleasing colours, which is particularly good for taking portraits or images of objects.

While adding water and dust resistance, a microSD card slot and other enhancements to its features, the Galaxy S7 has maintained its harmonious and refined design, in a light and compact form. But it's still a metal-and-glass unibody design, coming in black or gold, with a physical Home button that functions as a fingerprint sensor below the display. Of course newer phones like the Galaxy S10 and iPhone 11 Pro have this screen beat, but they're also far more expensive. The devices were sold in limited quantities in selected markets, and were given to athletes participating in the 2016 Summer Olympics.

That said, we're giving our Editors' Choice to the very similar Galaxy S7 Edge, which has more functionality and better battery life in a package that's not much bigger.

It's amazing to think that, two years after LG brought out the first mainstream QHD phone, we still don't have any dedicated content that can be viewed at this resolution.Samsung’s also brought back its waterproofing protection, which was strangely absent on the S6 after making such a splash (pardon the pun) on the Galaxy S5. I wouldn’t normally watch a film on a screen this size, but the panel here is so gorgeous that I can’t help getting lost in it.
