The cover design was inspired by the Harlequin, a print that’s been synonymous with the Westwood brand since the 1980s.

Tiny crockery, vintage props and sweet treats filled the table, capturing the magic and mysteries of Wonderland. Complete with giant tumbling playing cards, an array of cakes and biscuits, and three carefully hand-crafted headpieces. Aside from her Alice-inspired Autumn/Winter 2011/2012 runway collection , her credentials differ from those who have written an introduction to the work in the past.

It can yield interpretations ranging from the light and frothy to dark and unnerving, depending on whether the mood is one of twee tea-sets or trippy forays into the unknown. This special edition includes Through the Looking Glass as well as the original illustrations by Sir John Tenniel that have been especially requested by Vivienne Westwood.
