Connectivity Rear HISENSE C1 Inside, the M1 Pro has Qualcomm Snapdragon SDA 670 processing brains with a multi-core AI engine, supported by 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of onboard storage (the standard M1 model comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage). Bluetooth 5.0 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi are cooked in, and there's support for Airplay, DNLA, Miracast and the company's own Hachi Cast for streaming content and wirelessly mirroring smartphone displays. The Sony VW325ES brings this high image quality to any kind of content. Its Motionflow technology keeps on-screen action smooth so sports and action movies stay sharp and detailed. It also supports 3D content and has upscaling for lower resolutions, so all content will look great on the VW325ES. But let's start with its cinematic prowess. The Freestyle offers Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution projection with HDR10 support at up to 550 lumens of brightness. On paper, that doesn't sound like much, but we were pleasantly surprised by the bright and vivid images it's able to produce.
This time around, the resolution has been bumped up to 720p from 480p and the brightness has been doubled from 100 to 200 ANSI lumens. Colour reproduction remains a weakness, with slightly unrealistic tones in places, but the picture is bright, steady and sharp, while autofocus ensures you never have to fiddle with a focus dial. In computer graphics, cube mapping is a method of environment mapping that uses the six faces of a cube as the map shape. The environment is projected onto the sides of a cube and stored as six square textures, or unfolded into six regions of a single texture. This projector hits the minimalist aesthetic pretty well; all of its features are low-profile and flush with the casing.

The LG projector’s performance matches the high-quality nature of its design, too. This is a short-throw projector that only needs 7.2 inches between the unit and the wall to create a picture of up to 120 inches. With native 4K resolution, Dynamic Tone Mapping, HDR10 support, and LG’s proprietary TruMotion technology, you’ll get a stellar picture no matter what movie you’re watching. The LG HU85LA uses a three-channel laser instead of a traditional color wheel, which leads to insanely accurate and vivid colors. We were also really impressed with the overall user-friendliness of this laser projector. It comes with a simple, well-functioning remote control and LG’s award-winning webOS lite, which is easy to navigate. 3. Epson LS-100 Cube maps can be useful for modelling outdoor illumination accurately. Simply modelling sunlight as a single infinite light oversimplifies outdoor illumination and results in unrealistic lighting. Although plenty of light does come from the sun, the scattering of rays in the atmosphere causes the whole sky to act as a light source (often referred to as skylight illumination). However, by using a cube map the diffuse contribution from skylight illumination can be captured. Unlike environment maps where the reflection vector is used, this method accesses the cube map based on the surface normal vector to provide a fast approximation of the diffuse illumination from the skylight. The one downside to this method is that computing cube maps to properly represent a skylight is very complex; one recent process is computing the spherical harmonic basis that best represents the low frequency diffuse illumination from the cube map. However, a considerable amount of research has been done to effectively model skylight illumination. The projector comes with a 3,400 mAh battery built-in, which will barely get you through a 2-hour movie. You can also charge your phone off the battery, leaving even less power for the projector. Still, we like to see that kind of versatility in devices. The unit's optical engine can manage 720p resolution, which is usable but we'd hope for higher resolution at this price point, and outputs at up to 600 ANSI lumens – that's 100 more than its standard Infinite M1 stablemate and twice that of the original puppy cube. This made using the M1 Pro on surfaces like grained wood a little easier, but a matte plain-colored surface proved best.

We put this down to clever processing from Samsung's Hyper Real picture engine, which is able to automatically adjust color and brightness using its Smart Calibration feature. With all that in mind, you can see why laser projectors are suitable upgrade paths for TV and projector users alike. If you have a 65” 4K TV but want to go bigger, a laser projector is great. If you have a regular 1080p home cinema projector and want to go 4K, a laser projector is, you guessed it, great. The Laser Meets the Video Projector The Epson is also designed really well overall, although it is much larger than other laser projectors and requires upwards of 15 inches to create a larger screen size. Keep this in mind as you plan out your home theater space. We were most impressed that the LS-100 included 14 total connection ports, including HDMI ports, USB ports, audio ports, and more. This means you can connect many different devices for a comprehensive home entertainment system. 4. Sony VW325ES
For its smart TV functions, the C1 embeds the Vidaa operating system with the direct integration of the main streaming service providers such as Netflix, Prime Video, Canal+ or Disney+ in full versions, therefore with 4K HDR, Dolby Vision or HDR10+ if your internet connection allows it. Other features such as Apple Airplay 2, Android screen transfer, Alexa connectivity or voice control are available. HDR10+ DOLBY VISION compatibilityThe C1 is therefore a device that I recommend, praising the quality of its image, its design, its beautiful balance, and I would like to emphasize that the machine is a delight to calibrate thanks to its complete settings menus.
