About this deal

Customers are saying: “So snuggly and warm but lightweight too, comparable to the down duvet I’ve had for years. A great product I wish I’d bought it sooner.” The temperature you see on the care label is the highest temperature the duvet can take, so it’s okay to wash it at a lower temperature to be kinder on your product and the planet. Running a prewash can help with heavily soiled linens and most modern detergents provide excellent results at low temperatures.

Buy it if: you want an affordable winter duvet that still feels both warm and luxurious. This recycled polyester fill duvet has 10% silk mixed in, and whilst the proportion doesn't sound huge, it really makes a difference to the way this duvet feels, with a more luxurious touch and really nice drape on the bed, whilst still being lightweight. Even better it's a relatively budget buy, and made from certified recycled polyester from waste (like plastic bottles or manufacturing off-cuts) which helps the movement towards a more circular economy by reducing waste going to landfill. Compared with virgin polyester, recycled polyester helps conserve crude oil reserves during fibre production. As its name suggests, this is another synthetic winter duvet that successfully mimics real down, and you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s part of a luxurious hotel collection. It boasts a polyester filling that’s made with at least 30 per cent recycled materials, while the casing is also 100 per cent polyester and proves soft and smooth to the touch. As with a real fluffy down product, this is a lovely lightweight and breathable duvet, yet it feels supremely warm at the same time. It boasts a 13.5 tog rating, making it a good choice for hot sleepers, even when the temperature unexpectedly nosedives in the winter. You can expect a top-quality finish from this entirely vegan product, too with fine stitching both on the edges and within the quilt itself, keeping all those bouncy, man-made fibres evenly distributed.

Why you can trust Ideal Home Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test. This lofty and luxurious, feels-like-down duvet comes from Dusk, the brand behind some of the best quality bed sheets, duvet covers, bath towels and pillows out there. If you're looking for a non-feather option but with a really luxurious feel, this is it. It's made of the brand's 4.5 tog and 9.5 tog duvets, both delicately fastened together with buttons to give you the flexibility to switch your duvet up depending on the seasons. Encased in breathable 100% cotton percale, it's also a great choice for those with allergies.

Don't buy it if: you truly want to splash out on the best duvet for your boudoir. This option is very good for its price, but the higher feather mix does mean it feels more 'clumpy' than the 90% down alternatives on our list. That said, this is still a great buy, and the addition of feathers does make the duvet a little more breathable than a duvet with a higher down percentage, albeit not quite as warm. GLAMOUR tested review: “This extra warm duvet is very much reasonably priced. Having tried them, we’re also a huge fan of the surprisingly lightweight feel of M&S’ synthetic duvets, despite the high tog count.” Microfibre– the 'luxury' version of hollowfibre, a microfibre fill is made of much finer strands of polyester resulting in a very lightweight duvet with a, yes, more luxurious feel. Some compare microfibre to the feel of down, but it has the upside of not running the risk of animal cruelty. However, again, being made of synthetics, the environmental impact of production and disposal is a concern. Like hollowfibre, microfibre can also cause overheating. Another solution is to opt for an 'all-season' duvet. This consists of two separate lighter tog duvets that can be joined together (usually by way of press studs) to make a warmer winter duvet. Most commonly an all-season duvet will include a 4.5 tog and 9 tog duvet that can create a 13.5 tog duvet once combined, or a 4.5 tog and 10.5 tog duvet that will create a warmer 15 tog combination. Pros: Affordable for a year-round duvet that promises to keep you cosy warm in the winter and cool in the summer.Crafted from 100% Eucalyptus silk, this lightweight duvet from Aeyla is the perfect snug layer for adding hotel-quality comfort to your bed year-round. It's hypoallergenic, breathable and soft, and thanks to its silky fibres and naturally temperature regulating properties, it'll keep even the hottest of sleepers who are prone to overheating comfortable throughout the night. The 10.5 tog duvet boasts a slippery, lightweight sheen that traditional silk is known for and is an environmentally friendly choice, as eucalyptus is a renewable resource. Pair with with the brand's dual pillow and consider your shut-eye upgraded. Buy it if: you're looking for luxury as well as warmth. No duvet fill feels quite as sumptuous as down, and this 90% Hungarian goose-down and 10% goose feather option is one of the best. It's super warm, drapes beautifully, and feels super luxurious. The all-seasons option also offers brilliant versatility; use the 4.5 and 9.0 duvets separately in warmer seasons and combine when the evenings start to drop in temperature to create 13.5 togs of winter warmth. Plus, although it's an investment, the all-seasons design means you'll also be kitted out with cooler tog duvets for spring, summer and autumn. The best summer duvets are lightweight and breathable, but they won’t give you that cosy warmth you’re craving during the winter. “I would not recommend duvets that are thin, have a poor-quality fill, or are made with linen fabrics, simply because they’re not ideal for the colder months” says Simba’s Mary Love. “You may find yourself shivering in the night!”

Customers are saying: “Pleasantly light and breathable and very well made. Our king size duvet offers weightless warmth.” Typically crafted with materials that offer superior insulation, winter duvets are designed to keep us toasty warm. And with the cost-of-living crisis continuing to loom large this autumn/winter, anything that stops us reaching for the dreaded thermostat – or indeed the leccy-guzzling electric blanket – is a godsend. OEKO-TEX Made In Green is a traceable product label for textiles that verifies that a product has been tested for harmful substances. It also guarantees that the product has been manufactured using sustainable processes under socially responsible working conditions. Customers are saying: “This quilt feels so soft and warm. I feel like I’m sleeping at a luxury hotel.”After much testing, we think 13.5 tog is best tog duvet for winter, with most of our testers finding 15 tog can retain heat a little too much during the night and lead to overheating. Although you can get duvets in almost any tog rating, the most common togs are 4.5 tog which makes a great summer duvet weight, 10.5 tog which tends to be the best bet for autumn and spring, and 13.5 tog which offers good winter warmth. GLAMOUR tested review: “I've just started using the All Seasons duvet and, honestly, I've never been more grateful to be able to take apart the 9.5 and 4.5 sections, depending on what the weather is. It's whisper quiet when you move around, the filling is well distributed and it even arrived in a handy storage case which I'm now storing 4.5 tog section in for next summer.” Mayola Fernandes OEKO-TEX Standard 100 verifies that a product has been tested for harmful substances. If a product carries the STANDARD 100 label you can be certain that every component (thread, button, zip etc) has been tested for harmful substances and is therefore harmless in ecological terms. Customers are saying: “We bought this natural duvet in super king size, it is light, fluffy and cosy. I cannot fault this item one bit.”
