About this deal

We limit variables by collecting data using Titleist Pro V1 as our official testing golf ball and Foresight GCQuad as our official ball launch monitor. There are two performance elements that I was impressed by and found even more important than the spin. The first is the ATK Grind on the sole. These wedges have substantial amounts of bounce, but that’s offset by significant relief in the heel, toe, and trailing edge. The result is a club that’s easy to open up and also fights digging. I really enjoyed the turf interaction of these wedges and could easily put them in my bag for that reason. Similarly, illegal wedges with specially engineered face textures can offer a heightened level of grip on the ball, making it easier to execute complex shots that might be more challenging with a conforming club. In short, these clubs can make certain aspects of the game easier, potentially lowering your score and increasing your enjoyment on the course.

Now, before we get too excited. There is a caveat. The Indi Golf Stingrays are classified as non-conforming clubs. So you wouldn’t be able to use them in competitive or tournament play. However, Indi Golf has just released a conforming version of their wedges called the Stingray TT. Which we’ll get to soon enough. We’ll also talk about how the Stingrays can be used as a type of training device, too.The next real life test came in the form of a 50-yard chip shot from just off the fairway. At this point, any time I pulled one of the Indi wedges out of the bag, my buddy was stopping to watch. local rounds with the Indi's resulted in positive SG vs a 5 index (previous performance was at that of a 15 index or ~1.5 SG worse) I reviewed full season stats in Shot Scope yesterday as I have likely played my last round. Overall the Indi wedges performed well on both approaches and around the green. The 56* has performed noticeably better than either my previous 54 or 58 and is staying in the bag. The 60*LW has been an outlier however. For this Member Testing Opportunity we are looking for 4 Forum Members to test, keep and review a set of Indi Golf Wedges. Included in this test is a full virtual fitting with @indigolf! They’re really no different than you and me. Guys that just want to go out on the weekend and enjoy themselves on a golf course.

My 48* set AW is my 115 yard club which I used for partial shots all the way down to 70/80 yards. The 52 Indi tops out around 105 which was nice to have another full swing and became my default from there down to 70-80 yards given the strong performance I felt I was seeing on course. Upon final review of my approach stats, my 48 produced 9% higher GIR (66 vs 57) from up to 10 yards further from the green with 6ft closer proximity to hole (37 vs 44) and 0.1 fewer strokes to hole out. Indi Golf calls it TractionFace. The entire face of the club has what are called box grooves. Those grooves are what grab the ball and increase the spin. That being said, assess your own game to make sure you’re replacing your wedges often enough. For tour pros, that’s several times a year. For the rest of us, not as often although avid golfers should consider replacing wedges annually. In the wet scenario, we apply apply water to the ground. Then, we spray water on the golf ball before each shot. In between shots, the club head is dried to ensure the only moisture present is on the ground and on the golf ball. The right wedge can mean the difference between landing close to the pin for an easy putt or struggling to save par. just prior to receiving the Indi's I spent 1-2 weeks focusing on greenside play due to poor performance mentioned above. This drove some improvement with my previous gamers and continued with the Indi's along with more dedicated short game time to evaluate their reactions around the green, distance gapping, etc. The consistency in distance on approach shots with the Indi wedges is their greatest strength in my opinion and was observed through indoor testing and on course. Poor strikes tended to drop spin which aided carry and rollout to arrive close to where a good strike would drop and stop. As someone who gets their money's worth by using the majority of the club face throughout the bag, these are a big benefit to my game within 100 yards. I am growing to enjoy the 60 FLX with low (8*) bounce and a wide flange as a specialty sand club…The wedges show minimal wear through close to 10 rounds and many practice sessions including bunker work to learn how to use them out of the sand which I consider another plus.”

Another point of contention is the face texture. Some non-conforming wedges utilize unique face textures or materials designed to maximize grip on the golf ball, thereby enhancing spin and control. The above leads me to wonder whether the 52 is needed or that wedge should be removed vs the highest lofted club in my bag. Overall, this is a smartly designed wedge from top to bottom. Every feature performs as advertised and makes a noticeable impact. Conclusion
