About this deal

In 2008, the Transformers twisted parallel universe was revealed – the Shattered Glass universe, a dark mirror where the roles and factions have been reversed. The once heroic Autobots are now an evil army, with their leader, Optimus Prime, an ambitious conqueror who stops at nothing, and who is known to modify his comrades into killing machines. The traditionally heroic Optimus Prime now sports a ghastly and sinister purple hue on his body, reflecting the bold and terrifying mirror universe.

Living Ship: The Nemesis is actually a Titan named Trypticon. For some reason or another he stopped speaking to his crew after being heavily damaged by Windblade during the war. (Breakdown speculates that he simply can't talk anymore.) The War for Cybertron Trilogy label was also used for toy releases that did not fall into a certain chapter, namely the 2020 Selects product, the crowd-funded Unicron and the Buzzworthy Bumblebee releases. Following on from the approach taken with the Age of Extinction toyline, Transformers: The Last Knight was also split into two separate age-appropriate lines. The more simplified of the two lines became the " Turbo Changers" and consisted of many of the same styled toys as the Robots in Disguise line above. The second, " Premier Edition" line, while not labelled under the Generations banner, was still aimed at an older demographic and followed the same principles that the Age of Extinction Generations line had set before it, even including many redecoes of molds sold in the previous line.

The Corrupter: According to the associated mini-comics, Dai Atlas of the Cybertronian Senate was the one who manipulated Orion Pax into having him question the success of the Decepticons' goals and then goaded him into assassinating Sentinel Prime when the latter was starting to support Megatron. The Shattered Glass poster (as seen above) bears a strong resemblance to one of the first Transformers posters, right down to the characters' positions and actions: Megatron in Optimus Prime's place, and the evil second-in-commands ( Starscream and Rodimus) more in front of the battle than their respective evil leaders ( Megatron and Optimus Prime). This mold was also used to make Timelines Scourge, and was also retooled into Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus. They were successful, as the gestalt members' ministrations resulted in both them being reborn as Nexus Prime, and Megatron being resurrected as Galvatron. The two went out to face down Omega Doom, who had arrived outside of the Decepticon base. Rodimus returned to Cybertron's surface just as it began to reconfigure itself into Primus's robot form. This change caught Nova Prime unaware; confronting his former commander, Rodimus retook his title as "Rodimus Prime" and freed his captured troops, evacuating the planet. But when Primus called upon Rodimus for help during his fight against his "sister" and fellow planet-bot Gaea, Rodimus refused outright, leaving Primus to be blown to bits by his opponent. The Future Buried...

The cover of issue #3 is a homage to the cover of issue #35 of The Transformers (Marvel), with Starscream in the place of Megatron and various Autobots in the place of the Predacons Trypticon saved his crew from an Autobot ambush by paralyzing them with stasis beams and then using his internal space bridge to warp them to Earth. His counterpart in Prime did the same thing to his crew in "Flying Mind", but his motives were much less benevolent. Megatron using math to predict future trends is based on psychohistory from Isaac Asimov's Foundation series of novels, [5] but if we wanted to be cynical about it, we'd probably point out that it's more likely inspired by its then-recent importance in Marvel's Civil War crossover, wherein Mister Fantastic's usage of psychohistory defined his character arc in the event. We Used to Be Friends: Optimus and Megatron, Windblade and Starscream, Bulkhead and Breakdown, the list goes on.The mainlines have always been complemented by lines of exclusive redecoes and retools. Beginning with the BotCon 2007 box set, Fun Publications had often aimed to directly complement Hasbro's releases with their Transformers Timelines exclusives, offering niche characters in a similar style (sometimes based on unrealised ideas from Hasbro) until their loss of the Transformers license in 2016, the same/only year Fun Publications toys were primarily branded under Generations, specifically Combiner Wars. Meanwhile, Hasbro's " Global Development Organization" released a handful of similar toys in Asian markets, and later began producing budget toys of popular characters via Cyber Series. In the west, Hasbro released a variety of redecoes for Platinum Edition (which in its later years, was folded into Generations) and the generic 2014 Transformers toyline, the latter of which eventually morphed into the Authentics budget line. Starting in late 2018, Hasbro's own Generations Selects range took over the Timelines niche: premium redecoes and retools (usually as more obscure characters) sold in brown cardboard boxes. Demonization: In a twist of the original series' set-up, it's the Autobot government doing this to the Decepticons, portraying them as Ax-Crazy Bomb-Throwing Anarchists who seek Cybertron's destruction by tearing down the caste system to the general populace. The very name 'Decepticon' is basically a slur, made up of the words Con (Constructed) and deception/deceitful. The Decepticons chose to wear the name as a badge of honor, because if speaking truth is deception, they're gladly guilty. MDLX Shattered Glass Optimus Prime has been redesigned by threezero, taking inspiration from the original G1 Transformers animated series. It boasts stunning detail, with threezero’s renowned weathered paint technique. The upper body is coated in metallic purple and silver, while the lower body features a dominant metallic blue tone, and his head features sinister dark red optics. The mechanical patterns on each joint are sharply defined with expert sculpt work. The detail on his transparent chest window includes the signature shattered glass, portraying the fierce and menacing nature of MDLX Shattered Glass Optimus Prime.

Volume 1 begins here.

This series provides examples of:

Higher caste bots usually have nothing but disdain for those of the lower caste, like mine workers and beastformers. In the aftermath, Rodimus was reported to have fled to the Skuxxoid Cluster, a hiding place that Galvatron noted was rather in character for him. Divination Recordicons The Dreaded: Of the three Autobot Warlords, Prowl is described with more fear and awe than even Optimus Prime. Several characters mention entering his domain is basically taking your life in your hands.

Evil Is Bigger: Due to his matrix-given upgrade, this Optimus Prime is bigger than Megatron and by extension most other Cybertronians. Darker and Edgier: Than the original Shattered Glass continuity - for one thing, the war between the Autobots and Decepticons lead to the extinction of the entire human race. After the assassination of Megatron, (of which Optimus learned about second-hand from Around Cybertron) Around Cybertron #6 Hound and Remote Patrol Six made their move, surrounding Optimus Prime and Ricochet as they discussed Megatron's death, intending to kill Optimus and install Rodimus in his place as Prime. Hound's rally cries failed to impress Optimus, and the Autobot leader proceeded to use Ricochet as a living shield against a blast from Warpath's chest-mounted cannon, before crushing Kup's head with his bare hands, destroying Warpath's chest cannon, taking out Hound by flinging Warpath into him, and cannon-blasting Camshaft in the head. Adaptational Personality Change: The comic borrows a number of ideas from the original Fun Publication stories but comes up with its own narrative and characterization. While most characters share the fundamentals with their Fun Pub counterparts, their personalities are tweaked: Noodle Incident: Breakdown tells Raf that he would’ve spent time in a Decepticon brig if he didn’t join them. This year's chronicle shatters everything you thought you knew about Transformers! Here is a universe you never expected... Similar to Combiner Wars (except for US-released Deluxe Class figures) and Titans Return, all figures from Legends Class upwards continued to include character cards, except this time there were twelve different variants of every character's card, each containing a combination with one of the twelve Prime Masters. In the second and third year runs of the Walmart-exclusive Vintage Beast Wars toyline, online listings for the figures started showing Generations branding in the titles, establishing them as products under the super-label. As such, their in-house title is: Transformers Generations: Beast Wars Vintage. Megatron's appearance in Forged to Fight is a mild modification of his Generation 1 counterpart's game model, itself based on the Combiner Wars Leader Class Megatron toy.
