About this deal

Oasis was founded in 1987 by Barbara Ross and also led to the founding of the Transgender Conference, usually at the UEA, and fostered by the Barbara Ross Association. This thematic note provides a summary of existing evidence in applying a social norms lens to development policy, including guidance on defining, measuring, and changing social norms, with specific guidance for WBG task teams and recommendations for policymakers. With an overall target—that 25 percent of managing directors and directors should be women by 2018—and a clear understanding that the bar for promotion could not be lowered, managers now look harder for high-potential women and start working with them earlier to develop that potential. The GIL Federation is generating rigorous evidence around the world to understand what works, and what does not, in narrowing gender gaps in education. The term “cisgender” describes a person whose gender identity aligns with the sex they were assigned at birth.
