About this deal

audio or an Atmos or DTS:X mix, but I’m one of those people that feels that kind of upgrade isn’t always necessary or needed to enjoy a classic. John Williams: The Music of Jaws 2– John Williams, who composed the score for the movie, is an absolute marvel when it comes to music and I really liked watching this featurette on him, very interesting.

From the outset, it’s clear that Universal put some time into this new transfer cleaning up those little lingering nicks and speckles for a clear and clean-looking transfer without scrubbing out natural film grain or details. Yet remarkably, this film still looks like a production of its day—it retains that familiar Eastman color look. From the Set is a vintage featurette produced in 1975; it was included on the Blu-ray too, as were the Deleted Scenes and Outtakes and the theatrical trailer, all carried over from the original DVD release. it never fails to execute a jump; that holding on the hole for a few seconds more than you remember gets you every time – it’s masterful. Brody once again is convinced that another killer, great white shark is circling and waiting to snack on some islanders. The film, directed by Jeannot Szwarc and released in 1978, was the follow up to Steven Spielberg's 1975 box office smash JAWS and was the most successful sequel ever until the release of Rocky IIin 1979. Europe's busiest forums, with independent news and expert reviews, for TVs, Home Cinema, Hi-Fi, Movies, Gaming, Tech and more. Flipping between discs, I listened through a variety of key sequences and didn’t notice any differences. Dialogue finds a natural center positioning and presents clearly and with no struggles in prioritization.

His worries turn to deep concern when a ship blows up off-shore and a killer whale's mauled corpse washes onto the beach. Jaws 2: A Portrait by Actor Keith Gordon– Actor Keith Gordon who played Doug in the movie (and best-known for playing Jason Melon in Back to School) was the only one to go onto other films both as a actor and director. The only shame is that the original theatrical poster isn’t included here as artwork (it's included in the poster). This new 45 th anniversary restoration has overhauled the image considerably and while it will never leave the film looking like it was shot yesterday, it does offer a significant upgrade over the previous 1080p release. It also marked Spielberg’s second collaboration with composer John Williams (their first was The Sugarland Express), whose iconic score and theme not only won him an Academy Award, it set a new standard in the use of music to create cinematic suspense. Because of some of those shooting problems, it has some issues baked into its very source – the underwater scenes look softer than those above the waterline and certain shots have been given a strange hazy look to them. This transfer steps that back a tad and evens out brightness levels, keeping whites nice and bright without blooming and blacks and shadows strong without crush. Only a couple of image tweaks have been done (notably an adjustment to ensure that the brightness levels of the night sky, as seen through the windows of the Orca’s cabin, match at all times) but these were visible in the 2012 Blu-ray as well (reviewed here at The Bits).
